I don’t know if you’ve noticed what a rich man and a poor man look like? What difference is there between them, besides the amounts in their accounts?
I invite you to analyze a man, outside of his account, and then find out whether or not he is rich.
What do you think a rich man would look like?
When you think about what a rich man looks like, you think of an athletic man “because he has money and goes to the gym; he can afford to eat healthy and have a personal trainer”, he wears business clothes and gets out of a chauffeur-driven car. He comes from a house with a swimming pool and travels often on yachts. He has 10-15 expensive cars and a vacation home in every corner of the country and the world. When he goes out to eat – because he only eats in the city – he only eats calamari and all the seafood available, and the tip is substantial enough that the waiter can afford to pay his rent.
His attitude is down-to-earth and he doesn’t talk to anyone who isn’t “his type”. He talks a lot on the phone, with business, even at the table and is, most of the time, frowning, hence the expression: “money doesn’t bring happiness”. He always “don’t give a damn” about the people he meets and throws money left and right: “let’s see that he has it”.
What does a rich man and a poor man look like? What does a rich man actually look like?
He is a man like everyone else. You don’t realize he’s rich. He’s not necessarily athletic, but yes, like all balanced people he takes care of himself, but not excessively. He’s a driver and has no problem driving any other car as long as his assets are investments, not those objects that the media associates with wealth. A rich man doesn’t have the latest phone model because he takes care of his wealth.
A rich man won’t have a villa with a swimming pool and an expensive car as long as they don’t represent a small percentage of their wealth and don’t impact their wealth. The costs of these liabilities – things that don’t produce should not be high and diminish their level of investments, passive income.
The difference between an asset and a liability
There is a difference between assets and liabilities. There are assets that are called assets and liabilities and income also categorized: assets and liabilities.
What do you have to have to be rich? Assets and passive income.
What are they and how are they made? Assets are those goods that appreciate over time and that generate passive income for you – without you having to work anymore. An asset is a property that you have rented and that produces an income – the rent – for which you do not work to obtain it, month after month.
What should you not have? You should not have liabilities and only have active income.
In the short term, it is convenient to have liabilities and active income, but they help your image, but does image produce money for you?! It is convenient to have a big, comfortable house, a nice car in which you have comfort and a high income, an income for which you work 8 hours/day without consuming much energy. But how sustainable is all this in the long term? From a financial point of view, these do not lead you to the position of being rich.
What do you think a poor person looks like?
When you think of a poor person, you think of a person who is dressed in rags, unkempt, “unfashionable”.
What do a rich person and a poor person look like? What does a poor person actually look like?
In fact, a poor person is very well-groomed: he goes to luxury beauty salons, has cosmetic surgeries, wears luxury brands, although he cannot afford all of these. The things he has and the places he frequents are with borrowed money, paid for with the future and the peace of mind of the future.
Mass media and advertisements “help” to distort the image of the rich person and determine the masses to have access to that rich life, to access those rich feelings, by providing quality products that supposedly successful people use or own. You can read more about how advertisements work here:
How does a rich person think and feel?
A rich man is well-mannered, has no frustrations and does not consider people as “worthless”.
Here I want to give you an example. You may have seen me shaking hands with Brian Tracy. That picture from my Facebook profile.
In 2014, I was part of the volunteer team that helped the event in Bucharest run smoothly. At the end of the event day, Brian Tracy shook hands and took pictures with all the participants (those who wanted to), and the last ones who had this opportunity were those from the organizing team. We were distinguished from the event participants by the badge cord: it was white.
When I took the picture with Brian Tracy, he thanked me.
This simple gesture moved me. I didn’t think, and now I can’t think, that rich people are bad. How can you think like that when a rich, influential, successful man like Brian Tracy thanks you?! Maybe he thanked everyone, even the participants. That means he is modest and considers that without their participation the event would not have taken place, and without our organization it would not have gone well. Everyone was part of this beautiful event and each person’s contribution was important, in its own way.
Lorand Soares Szasz is also such a personality. He was the one who brought Brian Tracy to Romania and was responsible for the great event at which Brian Tracy spoke. A special man, just like Brian Tracy.
I wrote more about beliefs and myths about money here:
How does a rich person think and feel?
Financial intelligence is not related to academic intelligence, but to financial intelligence. Academic intelligence helps, but not to a great extent. A study conducted by a foreign university (a study that you can find in the book: “Changing Your Thinking, Changing Your Life” by Brian Tracy) shows that most successful business people in America did not even complete high school. However, these successful people “fly in formation”, that is, they manage their emotions – they have a high level of emotional intelligence.
Financial intelligence is determined by emotional intelligence. That is why rich people do not engage in frustrations, myths, limiting beliefs and fears related to money and success. They “take the bull by the horns”. They “burn their ships” because each one knows himself and acts as such. It is not up to the state to do something, they do not wait for a propitious period or they do not think that they were not born into the right family that would give them success.
Most rich people do not have rich parents, but rather suffered from poverty, they were even those poor people dressed in torn things, barefoot and who were not accepted in groups because they could not afford to dress. Now they do not dress fashionably to show that they have surpassed their status, but on the contrary. The level of emotional intelligence has determined them to overcome that emotion generated by society regarding the way you dress and the exposure of your financial status.
Success in money awareness!
